Before the turn of 2012, most of my girlfriends, young and middle age as well as the senior ones told me that their resolution would be to lose weight. Oh well, so do I, and guess that goes the same to many of you too. Nope, not everyone does it for the same reason. One does it to look good, one does it to be healthier and another one does it for other health reasons too, because too much weight meant that her soles ache much more with all that weight her aching feet she has to support. One lady told me that if she loses weight, she does not have to worry about buying cheap lingerie as she can afford to buy many more than the brandes ones which may turn out lesser in quantity. Hmm, and I know that losing weight is a good choice for many, as long as it does not jeapordize their health. Don’t you agree?

So, weight is not about all that stuff linked being sexy because sometimes a bit of flesh may be sexy to some too…

But she is always running to try her hands into display drums in the mall and whatever she can get her hands onto. Inclusive the ones we saw in the maritime museum recently. It looked like some native drums or bongos and she went on to bang on them before I could even say ‘please don’t…’ hahahah She had been pestering me to get her electronic drum sets that she saw in the music store while shopping for clothes. My, they are expensive but the advantage about these drum sets are that you can attach an earpiece when practising so you won’t bring the whole house down and have neighbours banging on your front door.. Pretty expensive hobby, though. Would you get one?

My hose seemed had small tiny holes since I last used them and water was sprouting everywhere, thus I had to throw them out.. I had not gotten new hose yet, now wondering if I should get one of the teflon hose instead of the usual plastic or rubber ones. If you don’t dry out the hose, it will get mouldy fast. My hose is very long and water sometimes get trapped easily…

Times have changed. In my days, we had no phones so we always kept to our punctuality when it comes to meeting friends or just any appointment. Nowadays, we text our friend even just to ask ‘where are you’ in a crowded place. Communication is more frequent but our memory lapses when we need to remember telephone numbers. Take the case of my lost handphone last year… I only can remember a few mobile numbers… and the rest of my friends, well, i lost touch with them because I couldn’t remember their phones. For some of my friends who regular keeps in touch, no problem because I just had to wait for them to call and ask me why I had not been in touch… Then there were those who would not call… well I know who these ‘friends’ are. They only call you when they needed you for some reasons.

And our phone, it has become a multitask gadget. Those smartphones. They are really smart. They tell you where you are with their gps app. But I still don’t get it when it comes to gps and golf… do you hold on to a gps phone when you play or you ‘bug’ the golf ball so you can find where it has landed?

Well, my phone has got the better of me. It has these map gps that I don’t quite know what to do or how to use. It is smarter than me, of course. And so many other apps you can download free too. Most of the time, my phone can outsmart me. I never win in those games… even the Office Jerk makes annoying faces at me wins all the time. I get sloshed with all that mud or cake he throws at me.. I can’t slice much fruit without getting bombed and my thumbs are too big for the ants that I needed to smash. My kids handle the babies better in SuperMom and I run head-on into trees all the time from the black monkeys in Temple Run…

So tell me, is there an easier game. My phone is smart. And it doesn’t look too good on me.

For the first time in 3 months, I stepped into the community club near home. I used to frequent the one near to my old home but since I have moved to this other town, I have yet to enter this community premise. In this one, there is a community library, the first one I have seen in a CC and there is also a post office which I brought my helper to, for her remittances. Different from the local government library NLB, this library is a small one, catered to children up to 12 years of age. I think it is a good idea to have a library because sometimes when the parents are busy attending the community courses, the children can read and relax in the library. A lady sits patiently at the counter and the library is operated via the old fashioned method, stamping dates on books for expiry dates. The children do not even need to bring a library card (they are not issued one) because all they need to do is just to write down the parent’s name or give the information to the librarian handling it. Very personalized, nothing fancy but very down to earth. A place for young kids reading and hanging out. Perhaps the next trip I can pack them that little mat in a yoga bag in case the place runs out of kiddie chairs/sofa. The place sure needs more seating mats.

I know of a few friends who found their soulmate via internet. And, mind you, they aren’t just the ones who have met and just chat online only. There are few who have gotten married and managed to stay happy for the past decade too. Just how did they started off, I do not know for sure but they have really hit it off with lots of common interests and love did blossomed from there. The only thing is that I wondered what are the statistics like when it comes to going on free online dating sites compared with meeting someone via a social networking that emphasises on hobby or other interests. Are the chances higher because the demand in looking for a partner is emphasized or apparent? Would you prefer to go on dating sites or hobby/similar interest sites?

Ok. So I came back after a two week holiday. Everyone asked me, how was it, did I enjoy it, bla bla bla. Well, yes and no. Perhaps because this holiday is more like an obligation holiday. I just had to take the leave to see all those people I had not seen in the last 3 years. And the people in the first priority - my family and relatives. I know some of my friends had been wanting to meet up but I really needed some space after all the packed time meeting and making sure my kids enjoyed the trip filled with some itinery while we were there. We did all we can, bringing them to Snake Temple, Penang Hill, Gurney Drive and taking them for drives to Tanjung Bungah and to the other side of the island like Batu Maung area. There were places I shared with them, places I had grown up as a child like my school, some local areas, markets and food galore.

I’m glad I had met the priority VIPs though I did missed meeting up some relatives (they weren’t free/at home or because I simply had no time to meet them all or have dinner with them all. Maybe in another trip. So after this trip, I actually felt exhausted because I had not had my space, to relax without taking off in the car every now and then and getting caught in the traffic again and again and again in the sweltering heat. It rained only once while we were there and it rained everyday in Singapore…

So can you blame me if I tell you that after this holiday, I really need a holiday break? Maybe someone can spare me with some bath & body works coupons if I can’t take any more time off… maybe a day at the spa would be nice.

I am eyeing the Lunar New Year hols - a month away… not sure if I’ll be making a trip back (flights fully booked) and I know the traffic is going to be bad on the North South Highway… a 10 hour drive might become 16 hours… sigh… maybe just fly to a ghost town city for CNY..

After a two weeks’ holiday in Penang, we find ourselves left with remaining two weeks before welcoming the Year 2012. I am filled with a sense of regret, emotional pain because I can never turn back the clock to the time we had resided in our old home, the last one that I actually felt very much for. But I shall move forward and wish for better year, years if not, a wonderful year of the Dragon… I hope it will bring everyone auspicious luck. After the Dragon, it will be the Snake year but it seems like my girls are all already welcoming the following year eagerly. Rae had been pleading me non stop to let her take photos after photos with Snakes.. not small ones like Lea in this pic..

Sorry I’m not a snake person so I can’t differentiate between a python, anaconda or any other similar looking reptile that resembles a snake. Long and err… long crawly wet snakey snake? Check out this pic below… scary..

I am awed by the cyclists that ride past my work place in the mornings. They are usually seen in the weekends cycling from one end of Singapore to the other side, taking an hour or more getting to their desired destination in their very expensive sporty bikes. They sometimes stop by the market and hawker centre for a drink or some quick breakfast before taking off and continuing their cycling route. Some of these cyclists also sport a trendy looking top, bicycle shorts/tights, mostly of a good sports brand that beats heat that are comfy for them to cycle in. Some even have unusuall ‘goggle’ looking shades like the trendy ones you see by RayBan, Oakley and other designer brands. All these gear makes one really seem like a serious and professional competitive cyclists. Like in a car race, many of them take their cycling habit seriously taking into account of their speed, distance and time. If I had the time, I would certainly like very much to take up this interesting sport too!

I remembered how I met with an accident while opening a can of condensed milk. I just could not use the can opener because the way the can turns is just not for a leftie. Since then, although I have learnt to use a right handed can opener, I still could not find one that is for left handers. I’ve heard of shops in the UK and US, yet there is not one in any part of Singapore. If I had the chance, I’d give something back to lefties, by opening a shop for left handers.
